How Childhood Adversity Can Affect Us Our Entire Life
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are far too common in our society. Studies now show that ACEs can affect us throughout the course of our lives. Come learn about ACEs and what we can do to reduce them in our selves and our society.
Tom is Senior Pastor of Pointway church in Baxter, MN and has been in ministry for almost twenty years. He grew up in an alcoholic family, and has personally experienced the toxic stress that environment produces. One of his passions in ministry is pastoral counseling, where he works with a variety of people helping them work through their life struggles. Tom has his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Crown College in Pastoral Ministry and Church Leadership, respectively, and is currently working on his doctorate at Bethel Seminary researching ACEs and their effects on resiliency in pastoral ministry. Tom is a certified presenter for ACE Interface where trained presenters use a flexible script, PowerPoint presentation, and background information that has been reviewed by national content experts, improved over time using field experience, and proven to be effective with diverse audiences to teach about ACEs. Tom has been married to Paula for 25 years and has two adult children
